The hymen is a membrane that partially covers the external vaginal opening. It may be lacerated during intercourse or a medical examination. A hymenoplasty can be performed on women who would like to restore their torn hymen, something often done for cultural, religious, or social reasons.

It is done under local anesthesia with or without sedation
2How long is the recovery time after the procedure?
You will be discharged on the same day of the procedure and you can resume your work immediately after completion of the procedure. The patient is advised to abstain from intercourse until the wound is completely healed and reviewed with your doctor.
3What are the risks and side effects of the procedure?
The temporary side effects include some discomfort, swelling, blood spotting for which medication will be prescribed.
